Born in 1979 in Slovakia, he completed his studies at the Academy of Arts in Banska Bystrica. In 2000 he won the first prize at the Anton\u00edn-Dvo\u0159\u00e1k Competition in the Czech Republic. In 2002\/03, he continued his education at the Opera Studio CNIPAL in Marseilles, and completed master classes with Yvonne Minton, Mady Mespl\u00e9, Mirella Freni and William Matteuzzi.<\/p>\n<p>From 2003 to 2006, Pavol Breslik was a member of the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden, where among other parts he was heard as Ferrando (\u201cCos\u00ec fan tutte\u201d), Tamino (\u201cZauberfl\u00f6te\u201d), Don Ottavio (\u201cDon Giovanni\u201d), Nemorino (\u201cElisir d\u2019amore\u201d), Kudrjasch (\u201cKatja Kabanowa\u201d) and God\u2019s Fool (\u201cBoris Godunov\u201d). During this time, he gave guest performances with his Mozart parts at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan, at Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de la Monnaie in Brussels, at the Glyndebourne Festival, at the Wiener Festwochen and at the Aix-en-Provence Festival. At the Paris Th\u00e9\u00e2tre du Ch\u00e2telet, he performed Jaquino in \u201cFidelio\u201c.<\/p>\n<p>As a free-lance performer since 2006, he has expanded his Mozart repertoire with Belmonte (\u201cEntf\u00fchrung aus dem Serail\u201d) and Idamante (\u201cIdomeneo\u201d). As Don Ottavio he performed at the Salzburg Festival and at the Metropolitan Opera New York, as Alfred (\u201cDie Fledermaus\u201d) at the Geneva Grand Th\u00e9\u00e2tre, as Tamino in London\u2019s Covent Garden, as the Evangelist in the Johannes Passion in Th\u00e9\u00e2tre du Ch\u00e2telet, as Idamante, Lenski (\u201cEugen Onegin\u201d) and Edgardo (\u201cLucia di Lammermoor\u201d), Tamino, Idamante, Cassio, Rinuccio and Henry Morosus (&#8220;The silent women&#8221;)&nbsp;at the Bavarian State Opera Munich and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Silvio (\u201cArbore di Diana\u201d by Mart\u00edn y Soler) in Madrid, Macduff at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. In Munich he sang with Edita Gruberova, giving his d\u00e9but performance as Gennaro in Christof Loy\u2019s successful new production of Donizetti\u2019s \u201cLucrezia Borgia\u201d. With the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Simon Rattle he sang Narraboth (\u201cSalome\u201d) in Berlin and Salzburg. At Zurich Opera Stewa (\u201cJenufa\u201d). In Zurich, he gave his debut as Faust, Nadir (\u201cP\u00eacheurs de Perles\u201d) and Peter Quint&nbsp; in \u201eTurn of the Screw\u201c. At Paris Op\u00e9ra he sung Tamino with enormous success.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017 he took part in the opening ceremony of the Elbphilharmonie under the baton of Thomas Hengelbrock.<\/p>\n<p>Pavol Breslik is also a welcome guest on the concert stage. At the BBC Proms in London, he performed with the Philharmonic Orchestra under Kurt Masur in Jan\u00e1\u010dek\u2019s \u201cGlagolitic Mass\u201d, with the Concert d\u2019Astr\u00e9e under Emmanuelle Ha\u00efm in London and in Paris in Handel\u2019s \u201cIl trionfo del tempo\u201d (on Virgin Classics CD), at the Edinburgh Festival in Beethoven\u2019s C Major Mass and in \u201cChristus am \u00d6lberg\u201d. Under Kurt Masur he also performed in the premiere of Siegfried Matthus\u2019 \u201cTe Deum\u201c, and with the Orchestre National de France, in Beethoven\u2019s \u201cMissa Solemnis\u201d and the Ninth Symphony. Further, he performed the \u201cMissa Solemnis\u201d with the London Symphony Orchestra under Colin Davis, \u201cLa Messe Solennelle\u201d and \u201cRom\u00e9o et Juliette\u201c by Berlioz with the Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio under Riccardo Muti. The original version of Dvo\u0159\u00e1k\u2019s \u201cStabat Mater\u201d was&nbsp; recorded on CD by Na\u00efve with the Ensemble Accentus as well as the \u201cMissa solemnis\u201d with Enoch zu Guttenberg. He was also performing \u201cDon Giovanni\u201d with Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra under Gustavo Dudamel. And most recently he made his debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at the Tanglewood Festival with Rossini\u2019s Stabat Mater.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018 his future plans include&nbsp;a.o. his debut&nbsp;as Hans (&#8220;The bartered bride&#8221;) at the Munich State Opera, his debut as Leicester (&#8220;Maria Stuarda&#8221;)&nbsp;in Zurich, Alfredo (&#8220;Traviata&#8221;) at the Vienna State Opera and the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Ottavio (&#8220;Don Giovanni&#8221;) at Covent Garden and&nbsp;Romeo (&#8220;Rom\u00e9o et Julitette&#8221;) in Hobart\/Tasmania.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The overnight success of the tenor Pavol Breslik began in 2005, when he was chosen the \u201cMost Promising Singer of the Year\u201d in a critics\u2019 survey in the magazine \u201cOpernwelt\u201d.
